New Website about Ebooks, Gutenberg.com
I just stumbled across a newly launched website about all things ebook. The site’s called Gutenberg.com and it made we wonder if it was associated in some way with the Project Gutenberg. It is not (slightly deceiving), so don’t expect any public domain content on the .com site.
Snippet from the press release:
www.Gutenberg.com brings together a wide variety of ebook people, including avid readers of ebooks on devices such as Amazon Kindle or Sony Digital Reader, and services like Stanza or Google Book Search. Gutenberg.com is also for those who are new to ebooks, as well as the ebook industry. Includes sections on finding ebooks, ebook reading devices and accessories, and new ebook technologies.
Clearly, the site wants to bank on the growing interest in ebooks. Gutenberg.com “invites Ebook Lovers and Neophytes Worldwide to Become Part of Growing Ebook Community“… sounds good, even though I have to admit that I had to look up “Neophytes” in the dictionary. (A recent convert to a belief; a proselyte; a beginner or novice.)
After a quick read through the site, not a lot of content yet, I didn’t find anything that I didn’t already know about ebooks. Then again, when it comes to ebooks, I’m not a neophyte. (Heh, I know a new ten-dollar word.)
